The 22-year-old's 16th-minute effort against Fulham at Stamford Bridge brought up his 26th Premier League goal of the year. That meant he broke Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's record of 25 goals in a Premier League calendar year, dating back to 2001.

At the time of writing, Palmer is level with former Manchester City team-mate Erling Haaland, who netted 26 Premier League goals in 2023. The England international has continued to be a revelation for Chelsea since swapping City for the Blues last year in a £42.5 million ($53.1m) move.
